Hector Mañón, MS, (Ph.D Student Intern)
Hector found his passion at the intersection of mental health and education, having taught culinary arts to neurodivergent students and managed nonprofit programs benefiting children and families.Currently, he is a Doctoral Counselor-In-Training at Barry University's CARE Center and a student in the Ph.D. in counseling program, specializing in marital, couple, and family counseling. He earned his master's degree in psychology at Lynn University and has over a decade of experience in human and social services as well as higher education.
Hector's clinical approach is collaborative and person-centered, with a focus on a client's overall well-being. Using strengths-based, solution-focused modalities, he meets his clients where they currently are in their lives and strives to create a supportive, inclusive environment via telehealth. Hector is considerate of his clients' cultural backgrounds and respectful of their goals and wishes. He may also challenge his clients to step out of their comfort zones for the purpose of promoting growth and healing. Hector is also a proponent of experiential and expressive arts therapies, including art therapy and culinary art therapy.
In his professional and academic career, Hector has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. Whether coping with the stressors of daily life, dealing with difficult family or relationship dynamics, anxiety, self-esteem, or mental health challenges resulting from medical conditions, Hector is interested in learning about his clients and how he can best support them by using evidence-based approaches.
